We are gathering a tribe of conscious dancers and seekers from around the country (to gather in Charlotte, NC) for Sacred Dance, Artistic Expression, Tantric ceremony and Shamanic Ritual.

Together we will dance, listen, share, witness, create art, honor and be honored in ceremony, and share a meal and outdoor experience (weather permitting). We will cultivate and immerse ourselves in creative sensual/sexual energies and discover how this creative energy moves in dance, manifests in art and is honored in ritual.

 

SINGLES AND COUPLES WELCOME!
This is not a "couples" workshop, although couples are very welcome and would be well served to experience this journey together. The material and structure are appropriate for all persons, single, coupled, polyamorous, etc.

Eugene Hedlund is a certified 5 Rhythms teacher and the founder of the SheddingSkins path of personal transformation, co founder of Tribal and Heart Centered Tantra. What is Creative Sensual/Sexual energy?

Our sexual energy is our creative, life-force energy. Through it, we give birth to new life. That life may be children, but it also may be new ideas and projects. Like sunlight and rain, the sexual/emotional energies flowing within and around us provide critical nourishment to our manifesting world. Energy, as it moves through our bodies becomes matter. Energy in motion serves as the raw material with which we participate in the co-creation of reality. Each of us succeeds or fails in life to the degree that we give form and direction to this creative force. We each have unique gifts to share in the world. By understanding how to cultivate and focus these energies, we can, with more clarity and ease make manifest our individual offerings.

What is Tribal Tantra?

Tribal Tantra is a convergence of the above and below, in the moving heart center. As a practice, we integrate the tantric and shamanic wisdom and teachings with a movement basis, wherein we fully and sensationally experience and feel these energetics embodied. Tribal refers to the shamanic, elemental, primal, instinctive and physical plane and Tantra a reference to the spirit, divine, intuitive, ethereal, both held in our heart center and moved, danced and grounded in our bodies.

Tribal Tantra together means we invite these explorations to be done with others where we can learn and uplift one another allowing our true and higher self to see and be seen by the tribe.

The word Tantra is derived from Sanskrit root "tan" meaning to increase, expand or stretch, with tantra meaning to weave, loom or woven together. Thus it can be said to mean we increase as we bring together, we expand as we integrate. Tantra is a path to embodied bliss. It is a path of Yes.

Have you ever wondered if life has a plan for you?

Although the specifics are always different there is a common energetic path etched for all of us. This path is governed by nature and is based on the principles of the circle. The Circle is a symbol of life cycles, cultural innovation and spiritual transformation. We can find no image more familiar than a circle. Its simple structure is seen as physical (rings, the wheel), verbal (talking in circles), celestial (the moon, planets). It describes frustration (going in circles), joy (circle of friends). It explains life (menstrual cycles), death (returning to the earth). The circle and it's meaning is the symbolic center of everything we know about being alive. Therefore it withstands reason that a symbol that explains so much of our physical existence could also have something to do with explaining the evolution of the human soul.

The Rites Of Passage Seminar will describe these 12 mystical stages of the evolution of the human soul. Rites Of Passage is a holistic, spiritual model based on an inevitable journey that all humans travel in their lifetime. This model describes the twelve stages of our souls evolution. It describes the spiritual peaks or 'points of transformation' in life. Rites Of Passage also clarifies when and why we experience life crisis, and more importantly, alternative approaches to transforming these dilemmas. As each stage is experienced and understood, we develop a growing wisdom and intelligence that serves as the foundation for living an enriched life and creating a balanced society.

ABOUT WILBERT ALIX

Wilbert Alix has earned international recognition as a contemporary healer and teacher of progressive psychology and neo-shamanism. A prominent figure in the emerging science of body-centered psychology his presentations are accentuated with intellectual depth and a unique insight into the relationships between traditional shamanic healing, progressive psychology and modern science.

Wilbert Alix is a 5th generation native of New Orleans... born into a culture rich in ritual trance, sacred music and ecstatic dance. Musically influenced by his community's Black Indian culture, Wilbert spent his formative years experimenting within the vibrant worlds of rhythm and rituals that originated in a complex marriage between Caribbean, Afro-Cuban and Native American Indian traditions. Also a trained academic, he explored eastern transformational mysticism, contemporary psychotherapy, western medicine and cross-cultural shamanic ritual healing techniques... all beginning in 1968.

Throughout his 40+ year career, Wilbert Alix has created numerous social, medical, mental health and alternative therapy approaches to cultivating physical and emotional well-being. Wilbert began his career as an inner-city community organizer in the turbulent 60's. He served on the training staff of the National Center for Youth Outreach Workers, researching and developing intervention techniques still used in alternative therapies and therapeutic communities. From 1977-86 his work at Baylor College Of Medicine (neuro-science), the Lions Eye Bank (eye/vision regeneration), and the University Of Texas Health Science Center ranged from cardiovascular development to organ procurement for cornea transplantation. He was a faculty/staff consultant on the Project Orbis International Sight Restoration Project - `Flying Eye Hospital' (see video below). From 1990-1993 he served as president of the Capital Area Mental Heath Center, one of the largest not-for-profit psychotherapy programs in the United States. Wilbert is the creator and director of the Common Ground Project, a conflict management program that successfully brings together opposing groups through innovative use of transformational therapy, an education in the principles that govern spiritual integrity and training in creative problem solving techniques. His popular TV show 'Awakening The Mind' has aired on public television since 1988.

Beginning in 1981 Wilbert served as director of the Natale Institute International, founded by Frank Natale (1941-2002), a worldwide network of education and training programs that have empowered tens of thousands with the ability to transform their intentions into reality. The Natale Institute curriculum is based on principles of humanistic psychology. Wilbert continues to re-create the institute’s tri-level curriculum that emphasizes the enrichment of body, mind and soul. For more than 30 years participants have learned to achieve greater self-esteem, to communicate more effectively, to transform stress and anxiety into positive energy and to transform goals into concrete results. In 1990 this program expanded into the mystical worlds of shamanism, organic healing and transformational music. CDs such as Shaman's Breath, Medicine Trance, Rites Of Passage and Spirit Animal were created to help facilitate Trance Dance as a viable tool for spiritual healing… and introduced thousands to the world of shamanic healing through movement.

Wilbert continues to explore the professional application of Trance Dance and other contemporary shamanic techniques as legitimate healing and therapeutic tools. He conducts annual trainings and retreats around the world. Wilbert frequently appears at professional conferences as well as teaching educational mind/body science programs to individuals and corporations.
